Reference description

Customer:

  • Malpensa Energia s.r.l.

Place:

  • Milan Linate Airport – Italy

Contract:

  • lump sum turn key basis

Project completion:

  • February 2007

Project description:

24 MWe + 80 MWt co-generation plant including:

  • 24 MWe + 80 MWt co-generation plant including:
  • 3 EG-SETS, gas engine driven; net electric power output 8 MWe/each
  • Heat recovery capacity from each EG-SET: 7,2 MWt (5,9 MWt superheated water production at 125°C plus 1,3 MWt hot water at 70°C)

2 auxiliary direct fire boilers:

  • 30 MWt/each (superheated water at 125°C)
  • 20 MWHt superheated water (125°C) storage capacity for integration of plant thermal energy production

Fuel:

  • natural gas from Milan public network (AEM – Gas)

Project peculiarity:

The plant is designed to produce electric power and heat. The electric power generated at 6 KV is fed to both Milan Linate Airport (SEA) at 15 KV and to Milan Public Electric Network (AEM Electric) at 23 KV.
The heat generated is partially fed to SEA (about 25%) to fully satisfy the airport consumptions and to Milan (about 75%) for the heating of districts located nearby the plant area.

Completely designed and engineered by EUROPOWER S.p.A.
The plant is designed to comply with strict environmental codes.
